OFFENSE
It would be tough to have a better season than the Tipton Tigers had last season as they brought home the Class C State Championship, their second in a row. Their play on the field was great on both sides of the ball as they outscored their opponents 558-82 with four shutouts. As they start a new season and eye a three-peat, head coach Travis White says if they want to do that, they will need players to step up and take the place of those that graduated. “We lost several key players from last year,” he said. “We will be looking to younger players to step up and fill the void. The ability is there, we will have to work hard to
repeat the success we had last year.” Johnny Fernandez (5-4, 155, Sr.) is back at running back, where he brings a lot of heart. White says that Fernandez shows up whenever he is needed. “In our two toughest games of the year, he rushed for close to 400 yards, had over 20 tackles, and made big play after big play,” coach White said. “He is super tough, very gritty, and very hard to tackle. He is very agile and has tremendous balance. He is the leader of our team.” Working to open up running lanes for him will be Landon Pool (6-3, 175, Sr.), who will be at guard on the offensive line.

DEFENSE
Fernandez will also be a key player on the defensive side of the ball at safety. Last year, he recorded 71 tackles and three interceptions. Davieon Brown (6-0, 180, So.) and Pool are back at linebacker after combining for 124 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. They are expected to continue to have a big impact on the Tiger defense this season. On the defensive line, Chris Addy (6-4, 190, So.) is a solid athlete that is not afraid to play physical. He is also a standout track athlete, which only adds to his abilities.
