DUKE TIGERS
BOYS
Coach: Nick Gable
23-24 Record: 29-2
Last season saw the Tigers reach the Class B semi-finals, but falling to the eventual state champion, Wilson (Henryetta). They will look to get back to the state tournament this season, but in order to do that, they will have to find guys to fill some roles. “We will have to replace five starters off of last year’s team,” said head coach Nick Gable. “But we have a very talented young core to build around. We should be a scary team come playoff time.” One of those guys looking to fill the shoes of the starters is guard Brock Thompson (5-9, Sr.). He is an outstanding athlete and will be called on to be a leader on this year’s squad.
Braden Gable (5-8, Jr.) is an undersized player who is always in the right spot. He may not fill up a stat line, but he will be the first to hit the floor for a loose ball or take a charge. He is always ready to do anything to help the team win. Lance Womack (6-2, So.) had a solid season a year ago, playing a pivotal role in the playoffs, logging a lot of key minutes off the bench. He is a three level scorer with explosive athletic ability. He could be one of the top players in Class B this season. Two more guys that are looking to have an impact this season are Nathan Gable (5-11, So.) and Aiden Tamplen (6-0, So.). They are two hard workers that bring a lot to the team and will make contributions this season.
