WEATHERFORD EAGLES
Coach: Cory Miller
OUTLOOK
The Weatherford Eagles enter the new baseball season with a younger roster and a competitive mindset under head coach Cory Miller.
“We graduated quite a few everyday players last year, so this year, we will have some younger kids playing,” Miller said. “It is a fun group of kids who like to compete.”
With new faces stepping into larger roles, the Eagles will look to blend developing talent with returning experience as they navigate district play.
Leading the way is Grayson Dunn, a pitcher who has steadily built his presence on the mound over the past two seasons.
“Grayson has been pitching for two years in district and non-district roles,” Miller said. “This year he will be a district starter on the mound as well as playing some first base.”
Dunn’s experience in multiple roles gives Weatherford stability as he transitions into a full-time district starter. His ability to contribute both on the mound and defensively at first base makes him a key piece of the Eagles’ plans.
Another important contributor will be Underclassman to Watch Kalen Clift, who is expected to impact the game in several areas.
“Kalen will be playing some middle infield this yr as well as helping out on the mound,” Miller said. “He has great instincts for all phases of the game.”
Clift’s versatility and feel for the game provide valuable flexibility for a team incorporating younger players into significant roles.
Athlete Cooper Bryant continues to set the tone off the field as well.
“Cooper is a great student/athlete,” Miller said. “He excels on and off the field and many of the other players look up to him.”
Junior Talon Scott is another Eagle expected to take a step forward this spring.
“Talon stepped into a big role halfway through the season last year,” Miller said. “We expect him to have a great spring this season.”
With emerging talent, growing leadership, and a competitive edge, the Eagles are preparing for a season built on development and determination.
