Central’s Trentley Sharp Athlete Spotlight

Senior Trentley Sharp measures this season by more than wins and losses. “My personal goals are to be a good leader for my team and continue improving my skills each day,” Sharp said.

She said the mood around Central High softball is a difference-maker. “Team morale is really high right now because everyone supports and encourages each other,” she said. That support has shown up in their play between the lines. “Our biggest improvement this season has been our communication on the field and working together better as a team,” Sharp said.

The Bronchos are chasing big postseason dreams. “Our team goal is to win the championship, and we’re focusing on teamwork, effort, and practice to get there,” she said. For Sharp, how they respond to adversity will be critical. “Our biggest strength is our unity and resilience because we always push through challenges together,” she said.

Her teammates look to her in key moments. “My role on the team is being a mentor, motivator, and someone my teammates can rely on,” Sharp said. In the box, she brings a detailed approach to each at-bat. “When facing defense, I look for gaps and pay attention to the wind. I usually prefer to go opposite field,” she said.

That production is built long before game day. “I prepare physically by doing strength training and agility drills,” Sharp said. “My mindset on the field is to stay focused, stay positive, and give my best effort every play.” She said she is also thinking about the players who will come after her. “I want to be remembered as a dedicated player, a good teammate, and a strong leader,” she said.

Sharp added that what happens off the diamond is just as important. “Something people might not know is that our team has a really strong bond off the field too,” she said. Her hype playlist includes a classic rock anthem. “‘Welcome to the Jungle,’” Sharp said of her go-to song.

One moment still stands out above the rest of her career. “My favorite memory is winning the regional championship last year,” she said. Off the field, she competes in softball, basketball and golf, takes part in community service. She plans to attend OSU-OKC for the cardiovascular sonography program.
