If you’ve been to an Altus High School baseball game, you’ve probably seen Danelle Guzman, smiling behind the concession stand, organizing team meals, or cheering from the stands as her son, Ray Guzman, takes the field. More than just a devoted baseball mom, Danelle has become a vital part of the AHS baseball family, giving her time, energy, and heart to help make each season a success.
Her son Ray, now a senior, has grown up on the field, but Danelle’s connection to the program runs deeper than game days. Alongside her husband, Valente, she’s always quick to lend a hand, whether that means setting up for a fundraiser, coordinating snacks for road trips, or stepping in wherever help is needed most.
Head coach Brady Davis said the Guzman family’s commitment has been a constant source of strength for the program.
“Danelle is the mother of Senior, Ray Guzman,” Coach Davis said. “She, along with her husband Valente, is always willing to help with anything they can, like concessions, team meals, organization, and other game day operations. They are a solid foundation for Ray, and we are blessed to have them as a part of our program.”
That dedication shows not only in what Danelle does but in how she does it , always with kindness, patience, and genuine care for the players and coaches. Her efforts often happen behind the scenes, but their impact is felt throughout the team, building a sense of unity and family that extends beyond the diamond.
For Danelle, it’s about supporting the team that has supported her son and embracing every moment of his final high school season. Her selfless support reminds the community that true success isn’t just measured by runs and wins, it’s built by the people who give their all for the team they love.
