Cole Adams is a junior at Altus High School who competes in baseball as a catcher, pitcher, and third baseman. Known for his flexibility and dedication, Adams fell in love with the game by playing with his friends and traveling to tournaments together; experiences that helped shape his passion for baseball.
One of his most meaningful highlights came early in life when he helped his team make it to the state tournament in sixth grade. He believes success is not an act, it’s a commitment you never give up on. That mindset has guided him through life ever since he first picked up a bat at just four years old.
Adams looks up to MLB star Mike Trout, who he grew up watching. Trout’s wisdom has shown Adams what it takes to make it to the next level.
“You owe it to yourself to be the best that you can be. Be the hardest working person you know.”
~ Mike Trout
Adams’s team is what sets them apart from others. They share a strong bond, expressing that their closeness is a big reason for their success.
Outside of sports, Adams is an intern with the Oklahoma Sports Network, where he gains hands-on experience in sports media. Staying on top of his studies and athletics hasn’t always been easy, as he sometimes has to miss practices to broadcast basketball games, but he seizes the sacrifice as part of pursuing a long term dream.
When it comes to an exciting matchup, Adams especially enjoys beating Lawton Mac, explaining how it always feels amazing to take the ‘W’ against them. His advice to his younger fans wanting to get active in basketball is straightforward:
“Stay dedicated to your sport, if you put the work in, results will show,” he shared.
Adams feels nothing but grateful to represent the Altus Bulldogs, mentioning that the community has been there for him ever since he started playing for the Bulldogs in seventh grade. In the next chapter of his life, he plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Education. He hopes to eventually coach both basketball and baseball, wanting to repay the sports that have given him so much.
