WILSON LADY EAGLES

COACH: Sami Hunter

OUTLOOK

With a mix of new faces and returning leadership, the Wilson Lady Eagles slow-pitch softball team enters the season focused on growth, effort, and competitiveness under head coach Sami Hunter. While the roster may look different, the mindset remains the same as Wilson prepares for another year on the field.

“I think we will have a lot of fun and be competitive this season,” Hunter said. “We have a lot of fresh faces, but they are a group that is willing to put in the work.”

That willingness to work starts with senior leadership, led by Delaney Richardson. As the team’s senior pitcher, Richardson sets the tone both in the circle and in the dugout. “She is our senior pitcher who has a lot of passion and drive to be a great leader and teammate,” Hunter said. “She goes the extra mile and always give it her all.” Richardson’s leadership and energy will be vital as the Lady Eagles continue to develop chemistry and confidence throughout the season.

The future of the program is also on display, beginning with underclassman Stevie Conway. Conway’s athleticism gives Wilson a valuable weapon defensively. “She is a threat in the outfield with her speed,” Hunter said. “She is quick and has a lot of talent when comes to her age.” Her ability to cover ground and make plays adds an exciting dynamic to the Lady Eagles’ defense.

Beyond performance, Wilson places a strong emphasis on character and culture, and that is exemplified by athlete Chloe Lyle. “She is the kid who cares and has a heart of gold,” Hunter said. “She works really hard and always is uplifting to her teammates.” Lyle’s attitude and work ethic help create a positive environment that keeps the team focused and united.

The Lady Eagles are also represented off the field by FFA Student of the Month Cassidy Seawright, who balances athletics, academics, and extracurricular commitments. “She is active member of the FFA and manages slow pitch and her ag business she shows and also manages to work hard on the field,” Hunter said. Seawright’s dedication reflects the all-around commitment valued within the program.

With senior leadership from Richardson, emerging talent like Conway, and a strong foundation of character built by athletes such as Lyle and Seawright, Wilson heads into the season embracing the process. The Lady Eagles are ready to compete, grow together, and enjoy every step of the journey as they take the field this year.
