When Talon Scott of Weatherford High School first began playing baseball at the age of 4, it was hardly a surprise. Baseball had always been part of his life. His father, Jon Scott, played collegiately at the University of Central Oklahoma and introduced him to the game at an early age, becoming a lasting source of inspiration.“I set a goal at a young age to continue playing the game I love at the next level, and that’s what keeps me going,” Scott said. That long-term vision has shaped his work ethic. In addition to regular team practices, Scott spends significant time developing his strength and skills. He trains in the weight room with a personal trainer at least twice a week and participates in hitting and fielding lessons once or twice weekly, focusing on refining the details of his game.Scott’s motivation extends beyond individual improvement. After being a starter for the Weatherford Eagles as a sophomore last season, he witnessed firsthand the impact of strong senior leadership. Those upperclassmen set a standard for preparation, discipline and team-first mentality before graduating, leaving a lasting impression on the younger players. Now, Scott hopes to step into that leadership role himself.“I’m looking forward to being a leader on this year’s team,” he said. “The seniors last year passed the torch to us younger classmen to keep building for the future, and that’s what we plan to do.”With a growing sense of responsibility, Scott aims to lead by example both on and off the field. He credits his faith in Jesus Christ and the support of his teammates for helping him stay grounded and focused as he prepares for the season ahead. Confident in the work he has put in, Scott believes he is ready to meet any challenges that come his way.
