Q&A with Cache Reed Gillispie – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Nancy Holcomb State Farm Insurance

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Matthew: I am a junior at Cache. I play baseball and basketball.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
 Matthew: Last year, 2025, our team had the opportunity to play on the OKC Thunder court at the Paycom Center. It was an amazing experience that I hope to have again. We got the win, which made it even sweeter!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
 Matthew: The confidence I have in trying to meet the expectations of my coaches, teachers and my community with my behavior and work ethic in and out of the classroom.

VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
 Matthew: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Forge To Lead Academy.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
 Matthew: SGA (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander). His confidence and humility. He works hard and it shows. He’s a great teammate.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
 Matthew: Mr. Scott my 11th grade PreCalc teacher. He’s smart, honorable and funny. I enjoy him and his class very much.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
 Matthew: My brother. He was the best teammate to everyone. He taught me to never complain, never give up, work harder and have fun.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
 Matthew: I am thankful to my mom and dad for their unconditional love. They’ll always be my biggest supporters pushing me to go further, dream bigger and be stronger.

VYPE: What is your favorite dessert?
 Matthew: My Nana’s homemade cheesecake.
