After a solid 16-14 campaign a year ago, the Blair Broncs enter the new season with confidence, chemistry, and a deep roster that has Head Coach Jarred Self optimistic about what’s ahead in his second year at the helm. Self believes this group, many of whom have been playing together since elementary school, has a rare mix of talent, experience, and camaraderie that could make them a dangerous team in Class B play.
Leading the charge is guard Jaxson Torrez (5-10, Sr.), a dynamic scorer and floor general who averaged 17 points per game last season and has already surpassed the 1,100-point mark for his career. Torrez’s ability to control tempo, make smart reads, and create offense for himself and others makes him one of the top guards in the area.
In the paint, Hunter Riddle (6-2, Jr.) returns after an impressive sophomore season where he averaged 15.4 points per game. His physicality, touch around the rim, and rebounding ability give Blair a steady interior presence. Fellow juniors James Thomas (6-0, Jr.) and Logan Williams (6-1, Jr.) provide size and hustle inside, while Eben Torrez (5-7, Jr.) adds energy and scoring punch from the perimeter.
The Broncs’ depth may be their biggest advantage. Young talents like Ryder LaMunyon (5-4, So.), a poised shooter with a natural feel for the game, and Latrell Powell (5-5, So.) give Blair plenty of backcourt options. The roster extends deep with contributors such as Grant Peterson (6-3, Sr.), Tanner Willis (6-2, Sr.), Ignacio Valdez (6-3, Jr.), and Tucker Mitchell (6-2, So.), ensuring that Self can rotate fresh legs throughout games.
Along with these contributors, the team is loaded with other players that will look to make an impact this season, including Logan Williams (6-1, Jr.), Riley Hogg (6-0, So.), Hunter Leach (6-0, So.), Davon Buckner (6-0, Jr.), Cutter Smith (5-6, Jr.), Trayveon Jones (5-6, Sr.), Kaelob Basaldua (5-5, Sr.), Josh Castillo (5-6, Sr.), and Karson Gambill (5-10, So.).
