Clinton’s Rhylee Rodebush – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

When you talk about drive and dedication, Clinton’s Rhylee Rodebush is the kind of athlete who embodies both. A 5’8” multi-sport standout, she competes in basketball, softball, tennis, and track, while also serving as Student Section President and a member of NHS and FCA. “I plan to pursue sports in college,” she said. “After college I plan to get into physical ed and do coaching and raise a family.”

Rodebush has big goals for her senior season, both individually and as a team leader. “To get better every day and to get closer to reaching 1,000 points,” she said of her personal focus. “Some of our team goals this year is to have good attitude and effort every single day we step on the court. Our coach doesn’t just expect it on the court but off the court too.”

She said this season’s energy has been noticeably different. “This year has been better than my last years! We are closer and get along great! We listen to each other and try to help each other,” Rodebush said. “The determination! This team has shown much determination and grit!”

Team chemistry, she added, is the heart of Clinton basketball. “Our teamwork. No matter if it gets rough, we keep each other accountable and work hard together,” she said. “How hard we truly work at practice! We spend a lot of time together at practice and it gets hard at times, but we push through and get better every day!”

Rodebush mainly plays post, but her versatility makes her an asset anywhere on the court. “I mainly prioritize as a post, but I am capable to step out of the paint and help out whenever needed,” she said. Her mindset reflects her confidence: “I can compete with anyone I get put against!”

Before tipoff, she locks in through routine and reflection. “I always like to wake up early so I’m not rushed in the mornings, I eat a good lunch, one other thing I like to do is listen to my own music,” she said. “I always like to listen to ‘The Blessing’ before games—it always reminds me that my God is there with me and it’s a blessing that I get to play this sport through His glory!”
