At Minco High School, junior Daegan Ford has built a reputation as a fierce competitor and a dedicated student-athlete. Splitting her time between the basketball court and the track, Daegan embodies the grit and determination that define the Bulldog spirit. As a power forward, she thrives in high-pressure moments and takes pride in doing the little things that help her team succeed.
Daegan’s motivation comes from a deep love for competition and a drive to become the best version of herself. “I always want to push my limits,” she said. “Every day is an opportunity to get better.” Her work ethic is inspired by her biggest role models, Paige Bueckers and Giannis Antetokounmpo, two athletes known for their relentless determination and resilience.
Among those who have helped shape her path, Daegan credits Coach Brummell as her most impactful teacher and mentor. “She’s pushed me to my limits both in school and on the court,” Daegan said. “Because of her, I’ve grown as a player and as a person.” That mindset has paid off; her proudest moment so far came when she and her teammates advanced in the playoffs, a testament to the team’s hard work and chemistry.
When it comes to rivalries, there’s one matchup that always gets Daegan fired up: Amber-Pocasset. “We’ve been rivals for years,” she said. “It’s always back and forth, so winning against them feels especially good.”
Off the court, Daegan is active in Business Professionals of America and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, organizations that reflect her leadership and faith. Balancing athletics, academics, and extracurriculars takes serious dedication. “It’s all about discipline, time management, and having a good support system,” she explained.
Daegan also makes a point to recognize those who don’t always get the spotlight. “Our team managers do so much for us, and sometimes it goes unnoticed. They’re a big part of our success.”
Representing Minco means everything to her. “I take pride in the name on my jersey,” Daegan said. “Every time I play, I want to make my school and community proud.”
