For Lindsay High School senior Creed Taylor, basketball isn’t just a sport—it’s a passion fueled by competition, hard work, and a relentless desire to improve. As a point guard and shooting guard for the Leopards, Creed has become a leader on and off the court, known for his poise under pressure and commitment to his team’s success.
“Pressure motivates me,” Creed said confidently. “Those big moments bring out the best in me.” That mindset has led to some unforgettable performances, including his favorite career highlight, a 28-point game during his sophomore season that helped the Leopards advance to the area round.
Creed’s dedication to basketball has required countless sacrifices. “You have to give up a lot of time with friends and family to be in the gym,” he explained. “But it’s worth it when you see the results.” That work ethic extends to the classroom, where his geometry teacher, Ms. Wilson, made a lasting impact. “She taught me how to take different ways of learning and apply them,” he said.
When it comes to rivalries, there’s no question who gets Creed most fired up. “Definitely Washington,” he said with a grin. “They’re just a big rival, so beating them always feels good.” In practice, he loves going head-to-head with Hunter Russell, a teammate who “always goes hard” and pushes him to improve. And while stars often get the headlines, Creed makes sure to recognize those who do the dirty work. “Armondo Hernandez is the least appreciated guy; he hustles, makes plays, and does all the little things that help us win.”
Beyond sports, Creed stays active in Student Council and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, showing his leadership extends beyond athletics. Balancing everything takes focus and responsibility. “Time management is key; get your school work done first,” he said.
For Creed, representing Lindsay High means more than wearing a jersey. “I’m excited every time I play,” he said. “I just want to showcase my abilities and make my community proud. I wouldn’t be where I am without my teammates and the people around me.”
