The Lone Grove Longhorns cheer team is stepping into the new season with confidence, determination, and a strong sense of unity. Under the guidance of Head Coach Bailey Atencio, the squad is not only prepared to bring energy and excitement to the sidelines but also focused on making a mark in competition. Coach Atencio describes this year’s group as one of the most tightly bonded teams she has ever seen. “They have each other’s backs like I’ve never seen, and I am extremely excited for this season,” she said.
The Longhorns have already proven themselves as a force in cheer, having placed in the top 10 at state for the last three years. That consistency has fueled their hunger for even greater success. With eight seniors leading the way, the team has set its sights on scoring higher than ever before and chasing the ultimate goal of bringing home a championship ring. “These girls want a ring, and I don’t see anything stopping them,” Atencio added.
One of the athletes helping to lead the charge is Alea Buchanan, whose grit and energy make her a standout on the mat. Alea is known for being both humble and coachable, always willing to learn and push herself to improve. While she may be a quiet leader, her steady presence has made her someone her teammates trust and turn to for support. Her combination of determination and humility reflects the team’s overall culture, focused, hardworking, and grounded in mutual respect.
What truly sets the Lone Grove cheerleaders apart is their bond. They are more than just teammates; they are a family united by a shared vision and relentless drive. Whether they’re performing under the Friday night lights, competing on the state stage, or supporting each other through the grind of practices, the Longhorns embody the spirit of teamwork and perseverance. With their dedication, leadership, and desire to make school history, the Lone Grove cheer team is ready to take this season to the next level.
