Sophomore Addison Blackwell has distinguished herself as a versatile and hardworking athlete, competing in softball, basketball, and track. On the softball field, she plays shortstop and utility, demonstrating both skill and leadership that have helped her team achieve great success.
For Addison, faith is a driving force. “The Lord motivates me,” she said, noting that her spiritual foundation gives her strength and focus in both sports and life. She also draws inspiration from her mentor, Marley Teasley, who has been a constant supporter and a guide in showing Addison what it takes to succeed. Teachers like Mrs. Copeland and Mrs. Thomas have also shaped her, providing encouragement and support that extends beyond the classroom.
Addison believes that success in sports comes from hard work, discipline, and dedication, especially in the off-season. Her efforts have paid off, highlighted by one of the proudest moments of her career: winning state. She thrives on competition, especially against district opponents, where every game determines how far the team will go in the postseason.
Practice is where Addison’s determination truly shines. She enjoys working with teammate Kaitlyn Bryant, who consistently pushes her to perform at her best. She also appreciates that no member of her team goes unrecognized; every player contributes to the Eagles’ success.
Outside of athletics, Addison is active in Student Council, Yearbook, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, balancing her schoolwork and activities through perseverance and focus. She follows Coach Kelsi Musick on social media, admiring her dedication and success as a model for what hard work can achieve.
Representing her school and community is a point of pride for Addison. “It’s a great feeling when you see those little kids cheering you on, wanting to be like you,” she said. Her journey in softball began at age six, and she has played on the same travel team, the Rebels, since age nine. Looking ahead, Addison plans to continue her athletic career in college, carrying with her the support of her parents and the lessons she has learned from coaches, teachers, and teammates.
