9 Questions with Sayre’s Lexie Hanrahan – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by The Battin Barn

VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?

Lexie: I am a senior at Sayre High School. I play fastpitch and slowpitch softball, run cross country and track, and I cheer.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Lexie: My favorite teacher throughout my whole academic career has been Mrs. Hunter. Not only do I look up to her as a teacher, but she is a role model for me in her spiritual life as well. Anytime anything goes wrong in her life, she always allows God to take control over it. Instead of handling it on her own, she hands it over to the Lord!

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Lexie: The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me in EVERY sport is Addi Mariano. Not only did she become my best friend, but I consider her, as well as the rest of her family, family to me. Addi has been with me through the hardest parts of life and is always there to celebrate with me for every accomplishment. From Taco Bell trips to playing Roblox with her little brother, Addi is always up for a good time. I couldn’t imagine my life without her, and I believe God gave me her because He knew I needed her.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Lexie: My biggest inspiration through every season of my life has been the woman who gave me life, Courtney Hanrahan. My mother has always been the person I go to when I receive the best news, when I’m having a bad day, or when I just need someone to listen to my ranting. She’s at every game and meet, and is my biggest cheerleader. My mom cheers for me so loud that I never notice who isn’t.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Lexie: Out of all the sports I play, the thing I’ve learned the most is endurance. No matter how hard something may be, or how much my body is fighting back because it’s in pain, I’ve learned to push through and KNOW that I can do hard things.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Lexie: The best advice I’ve ever received from someone was to give it all to God! In the hurting and in the happiness, hand it over to Him. Praise Him in the highs and lows, and turn your eyes to the Lord always!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Lexie: No matter the outcome of any sporting event, I always try my hardest to keep a smile on my face because it doesn’t matter how many games you win, Jesus still loves you, no matter what! Having a good attitude and being a natural cheerleader towards everyone are qualities that I believe I have, and I use my platform in my sports to glorify God. So that’s my favorite part of representing my school: getting to represent the Lord and set the standard there for my school!

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Lexie: My DREAM meal consists of food from lots of places. If I were only allowed to eat one meal for the rest of my life, it would be this: a Crumbl cookie, Chick-fil-A nuggets with Canes sauce, a bag of Lays pickle chips, and a Strawberry Sunrise Alani.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Lexie: I have so many great memories from over the years, but the memory I’m most proud of happened my freshman year; I cheered a game by myself! It was my first year of cheerleading in high school, but I loved it and wasn’t scared! All the fans cheered extra loud with me, and it was so fun!
