Iva Wilson is ready to take the Softball diamond as a sophomore at Chickasha High School. As a key player at 3rd base and utility, she can be anywhere on the field to make a difference for her team. With her hard work ethic and consistency on and off the field, Iva is determined to kick up some chalk this season.
When it comes to empowering people in Iva’s life, she proudly mentions her coaches, Coach Addison Willis and Coach Verser. “Coach Willis always has a positive attitude and energy; people gravitate to her.” She shares. “Coach Verser is my strength training coach and is someone I can easily talk to when it comes to my confidence in softball.” Iva also credits her teammates for being her biggest hype girls, always lifting her on and off the field, reminding her that success is a team effort.
Iva is fearless, and when it comes to an opponent she looks forward to seeing on the field, Bridgecreek always comes to mind. “ We are evenly matched, and we all have to work hard together as a team to win.” Her teammate, Brynlie Alexander, pushes her every day to prepare for teams like Bridgecreek, challenging her to reach new heights. Iva tells me, “Our team is always working together, not against each other.” A team with camaraderie like this is bound to take it to the next level.

Some of the most memorable moments in her softball career are a diving catch in centerfield, winning the game! Along with her first out-of-the-park home run in Kansas City. With her only being a sophomore, imagine what she will do in the next three years to add to her resume.
Ultimately, Iva is proud to represent her school. “I carry their pride, values, and spirit with me. It’s about honoring the collective identity and making everyone feel connected through my actions.” She explains. After high school, Iva hopes to continue her softball journey at the college level at USAO. She also aspires to be an ultrasound technician. With her determination, focus, and devotion, there is no doubt she’s on the right path to achieve big things.
