For Dax Owens, representing Davis High School isn’t just about playing the game; it’s about carrying on a tradition built on hard work, sacrifice, and pride. A junior who’s involved in football, basketball, baseball, and track, Owens embodies the grit and drive that define what it means to be a Davis Wolf.
Motivated by a desire to be better every day and to make the most of his God-given potential, Dax is all-in no matter the sport or season. That mindset helped fuel Davis’ state championship run in football last year, which he calls the highlight of his career so far.
“All the late nights, early mornings, the hangouts with the guys, the summer workouts, everything we did to try to get a gold ball in Davis really came full circle,” Owens said. “It meant everything.”

His competitive spirit doesn’t stop when the lights go off. Whether it’s on the field or in the classroom, Dax believes success comes from effort. “You get out what you put in,” he said. “So I’d say it’s about showing up, competing, and leaning on your work.”
Dax credits his cousin Dawson Muck and his dad as role models who’ve helped him see things beyond sports and more about life. And in the classroom, Mrs. Whaley has been a key influence, offering guidance and encouragement rooted in both faith and belief.
He stays active on campus, hosting FCA and participating in a media class that helps promote Davis athletics and school spirit online. When he needs a little inspiration himself, he often finds it on Twitter through The Winning Difference. “Everything they post seems to be exactly what someone needs to hear,” he said.
At the heart of it all, Dax finds purpose in representing Davis and the community that supports him. “When you look up in the stands on Friday nights and see everyone watching you battle it out, you can tell they care. They’ve always cared here. That’s what separates us.”
