Wynnewood’s Skylar Tinnin – Softball Spotlight

Skylar Tinnin is making her mark on the softball diamond, in the weight room, and on the track as a Junior at Wynnewood High School. With her versatility on the diamond, she plays shortstop, second base, and anywhere in the outfield. She’s the kind of player the team can always count on when it matters the most.

When it comes to her teammates, they are more than just friends; they’re her biggest cheerleaders! She points out, “When I make a great play, my teammates cheer me on! Moments like that remind me why I love the sport so much! It makes me want to continue to get better.”

Skylar will never forget the impact her parents have had on her life. Her mom has shown her kindness and encouragement, while her dad has set an example of what it means to be driven and hard-working. She explains that their guidance has shaped all of these qualities in her.

A standout moment for Skylar was when she hit a walk-off home run against Stratford, clinching the win for her team! She shared, “ In order to grow in your sport, it takes lots of hard work.” That hard work definitely paid off for her and her team during this jaw-dropping win.

Oklahoma Softball has played an important role in her life, which led to her following their social media accounts. She gets inspiration from watching them lead and make incredible plays. Overall, Skylar is a huge Oklahoma fan.

Ultimately, Skylar knows what it takes to balance sports and school, saying, “School work comes first for me”. She is the definition of what you would want to represent your community. As she explains, “representing my school and community means always giving my 100%, whether it’s at practice, or a game, and showing respect to my team, coaches, and opponents.” With her drive and devotion,  there’s no doubt she will reach her goals to attend college and make her next mark in the medical field.
