Q&A with Weatherford Coach Derrick Bull – Presented by FleetPride Service Center

VYPE: What sports do you coach?

Derrick: I am the head boys basketball coach at Weatherford High School.

VYPE: How long have you been at Weatherford?

Derrick? Six years.

VYPE: What do you enjoy most about coaching?

Derrick: Building relationships with my players and getting to continue to be around the game of basketball every day.

VYPE: What made you decide to become a coach?

Derrick: I love basketball.  My dad was a basketball coach as well, so I’ve been around it my whole life.

VYPE: What are some of the highlights of your coaching career?

Derrick: The last four years going to the state tournament.  The biggest highlight was winning the 2025 Class 4A state championship.

VYPE: Who were some of the more impactful coaches in your life?

Derrick: My dad has been my biggest influence on my coaching career.

VYPE: Who are some college or professional coaches who you look up to?

Derrick: Kelvin Sampson is a college coach I’ve always looked up to.  He is a proven winner and his teams are known for their competitiveness and toughness.
