There are a lot of things that come along with being a parent. While it is not always the easiest or most fun thing, there are also very rewarding times. Jamie Long is the mother of two and she says that being a part of her kids’ lives is very important to her.
“My kids come first and I love getting to watch them do something they love,” she said. “You have to enjoy every moment you can because it all goes by too fast. As a mom the hardest part was watching my son walk off that football field for the last time. That’s why I never want to miss a down, a match, an inning or a hole.”
Long’s daughter Madilynn is a sophomore at Elk City High School, where she is a member of the golf team. Aden, her son, is a sophomore at the University of Central Oklahoma. When he was a student at Elk City, he played football and wrestled. Jamie is the Talent and Culture Manager for the Clinton and Elk City Sigma locations. She and her husband are members of the booster clubs for every sport that their kids play. Also, she and her family are members of The Way Church.
As a parent, Jamie knows that it is important to help her kids grow up to be good people.
“It’s our job as parents to instill good priorities and morals in our children at young ages so that once they become teenagers and young adults they can be bold enough to stand for what is right,” she said.
Along with outstanding parental involvement, a great community and school is also vital to a student being successful. Long says that the community of Elk City has been a great one to be a part of.
“It has been a joy to see the love and support from our kids’ coaches, athletic directors, and the entire town for the kids and their passion for the game and sport,” she stated.
