Turner’s Danielle Blankenship – Golf Spotlight – Presented by The Taste By Chef Rodney

Athletes at all levels of competition have days when they just do not feel like putting in the work. Danielle Blankenship knows that starting each day with a positive attitude can play a big role in her success.

“When I wake up every morning I have the goal to be a better golfer than I was yesterday,” she said. “Having a goal to work towards every day and having something that I’m good at and I love is a great motivation to keep moving through life.”

Blankenship is a senior at Turner High School, where she is second bag on the golf team. She says that being the best golfer that she can be takes more than just the physical work and preparation.
“The top three things it takes to be successful in golf is commitment, consistency, and the willingness to play,” Danielle said. “If I’m not committed to practicing every day, I will slowly start to lose progress. I need to trust my swing and have it be consistent in order to confidently know where the ball will go once I hit. Lastly and most importantly, you have to want it. You have to want to drive to the golf course to practice every day and participate in tournaments through the rain, wind, sleet, snow, cold, and boiling summers. You can’t just golf when it’s convenient for you and it’s the perfect temperature outside.”

When she is out on the course, whether it is practice, competition, or just for fun, Blankenship is proud to wear her team gear and let people know who she plays for.

“I have always represented my team since middle school when I started,” she said. “I proudly wear Turner golf shirts wherever I go. I am very honored to be a leader in my community and have others look up to me because of my accomplishments in golf.”
