Throughout an athlete’s career, there are moments that have a long lasting impact on them. It could be a team accomplishment or a personal achievement. Or in the case of Presley Condit, it could be a combination of the two.
“During basketball, we were down by five points with seconds left,” she recalled. “I hit back to back three pointers to help my team win the game. I also play golf and winning Most Valuable Player during my freshman and sophomore years is also pretty cool.”
Condit is a junior at Velma-Alma High School. Along with basketball and golf, she is also involved in the National Honor Society and BETA.
As a student-athlete, Presley knows that her preparation for her sports is important, but she also realizes that she has to work hard in the classroom to be able to compete. She says that balancing school work and athletics can be tough at times but you just have to do it.
“It is my junior year and what people deem to be the hardest year of school,” she said. “It is a lot of stress to keep up. No procrastination can happen especially with golf season coming up. I have to get everything done.”
Being a successful athlete requires a lot of time and dedication. Presley says that going the extra mile is one way to get better.
“Practice is obviously a necessity,” she said. “I do more things in the summer like camps and going to play to put me ahead of competition.”
Presley has a great support system around her and they help her to be a better person.
“One of my biggest role models is my papa Rick,” she said. “He helped me get into golf. He and my grandma have helped me a lot and have come to every tournament. I would say that my favorite teacher is my computer teacher Mr Harris. He is always kind and makes sure everyone is okay.”
