Arlena Kirkendoll, a freshman at Clinton High School, has quickly established herself as a standout multi-sport athlete. While she enjoys competing in track, tennis, and plans to add volleyball next year, basketball holds a special place in her heart.
“Basketball is my main focus,” Kirkendoll said. “But I love switching to track during its season—it keeps things exciting.”
Her athletic journey began in seventh grade, and her commitment to improvement has already earned her recognition both on and off the court.
For Kirkendoll, it’s not just about winning but the thrill of teamwork and competition that keeps her motivated.
“It’s the energy and drive that everyone brings,” she said. “Moments like that make all the hard work worth it.”
Balancing multiple sports is no easy feat, but Kirkendoll thrives under pressure. During basketball season, her routine includes three-hour practices. Once basketball wraps up, she transitions seamlessly to alternating track and tennis sessions.
Despite her busy schedule, she manages to maintain focus on both athletics and academics.
“It keeps me in shape and motivated,” Kirkendoll said. “Sports have taught me to stay persistent and focused.”
Her grandmother, a former high school athlete, serves as her biggest inspiration. Kirkendoll credits her for instilling a competitive spirit and a lifelong commitment to fitness.
“She’s always been driven,” Kirkendoll said. “That mindset runs in our family.”
Looking ahead, Kirkendoll hopes to pursue track at a higher level while continuing to enjoy basketball and other sports. With her relentless determination, she is ready to leave a lasting impact at Clinton High School and beyond.
