Nikki Allen is the mother of three and a proud member of her community. She says that she loves being a part of the community of Weatherford because of how the community works together to accomplish things for their kids, which she has seen happen firsthand.
“When my kids first started school in the Weatherford school system, soccer was not a well known sport like basketball, football, etc,” she said. “Weatherford school soccer has made a name for itself. This is due to the hard work and dedication of our amazing soccer families, city of Weatherford’s soccer program, and support from our community businesses. As of today, the sport of soccer has the most athletes, middle school and high school combined, than any other sport in our district and it keeps growing.”
Her oldest is her son Colton. He is 23 and married to his wife Karsyn. Colton served four years in the United States Army and is now attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Next is her daughter, Ashytn, who is 21 and a sophomore at SWOSU. Her youngest is Carson and he is a senior at Weatherford High School and a four year varsity starter for the soccer team.
The lives of students can become busy and sometimes overwhelming. But Allen says there is something that they can do that will help.
“Kids should have priorities,” she said. “It helps them develop important skills in life like being able to make important decisions, set goals and work towards achieving them.”
Over the years of having kids play sports, Nikkin has been there as much as she can to cheer them on. But she says that while it may be tough at times, she wants to enjoy it while it lasts.
“I have spent many hours and many miles traveling to my kids’ club soccer, middle school, and high school soccer games,” she stated. “The toughest part about being a parent of a high school athlete is knowing that it will soon be over. I will miss these days.”
