Hollis High School freshman Maddox Skorepa is a multisport athlete, playing basketball, football, soccer, and track for the Hollis Tigers. In basketball, Maddow plays the position of small forward, in football, Maddox plays both wide receiver and cornerback, and in baseball, Maddox plays second base. Many would consider Maddox a sports veteran, having played basketball and baseball since he was little, and has played football, and ran track since 6th grade.
Maddox is proud to represent his school and community as a student athlete. Maddox proclaimed, “Hollis has always had a long-standing tradition of Tiger Pride. I enjoy wearing the jersey to represent my school and town, just like athletes of the past.”
In terms of what motivates Maddox, he stated, “I have always been motivated to win. I like competition, and work hard.”
Behind every student athlete is a role model that has impacted their life. For Maddox, he looks towards family and his coaches as such. Maddox explained, “My parents and my coaches have been my biggest influences on my life.”
Throughout a student athlete’s academic life, there is normally a teacher that has left a legacy upon that student. Maddox stated, “My math teacher, Coach Webb, has had a big impact on my life. He has taught me the values of hard work.”
In regards to what it has taken Maddox to become successful in sports, Maddox stated, “It takes a lot of hard work to be successful in sports. I spend lots of time in the weight room, at practice, and working on my own.”
Many memories are made as a student athlete. For Maddox, one particular memory stood out the most. Maddox recalled, “That memory is when my football team became District Champions this year.”
In addition to playing basketball, football, soccer, and track for the Hollis Tigers, Maddox is a member of The FFA Organization.
After graduating from high school, Maddox plans on pursuing higher education. Maddox stated, “I would like to attend college, and to become an athletic trainer.”
