Athletes work hard to be their best when they compete. When they step on the field or court to compete, they know that they are playing for more than just themselves and their teammates. They are also playing for the name across the uniform they wear.
“Representing my school means a lot to me,” Trey Ott said. “We have the biggest chance of making the state tournament out of anyone ever from this school. Bringing home trophies to this school and to the parents means everything.”
Ott is in his senior year at Dibble High School. He plays both football and baseball for the Demons.
In order to reap the rewards of success, Trey knows that you have to be willing to put in the work, even when that means sacrificing something you really want to do.
“It has taken time,” he said. “Instead of going out with your friends, you know you have to put in more work to get better. That is where success comes in. The hope of playing at the Division I level is what motivates me to keep working hard.”
Trey also knows that the teammates that he competes alongside are just as important the the team’s success.
“I enjoy working against Austin George Maddox the most,” he said. “He and I will go at it during practice day in and day out. I don’t feel like we have a least appreciated player on our team. Everyone is held accountable and held to a standard of grades, attitude, and performance.”
Ott has had people in his life that have influenced him and helped shape him into the person that he is today.
“Some of my biggest influences are my uncle and my dad,” he said. “They both played together in high school like me and my brother did. A teacher that has impacted me is Mrs.Warden. She always makes sure we are keeping up with all of our work and attendance.”
