Dickson High School sophomore Mia Ruiz is involved in several activities at school including FFA. Like many of her peers, Ruiz got involved in FFA as soon as it came available.
“I got involved in FFA when I was in eighth grade, but I have been showing since I was six,” Ruiz said. “My dad, my uncle and my cousins got me involved in ag and they all showed when they were younger.”
Ruiz said she enjoys livestock, judging and showing her goats and occasionally showing sheep. Ruiz said anyone interested in FFA should expect to have a lot of fun getting involved in their chapter.
“It’s fun, it helps you in the future, and it helps broaden in your horizons,” said Ruiz.
An outfielder for the softball team, Ruiz also participates in powerlifting and is a member of National Honor Society. She plans to attend college after high school.
“I plan on attending Oklahoma State University and becoming a veterinarian,” said Ruiz.
