MacArthur Highlanders – Boys Basketball Preview

MACARTHUR HIGHLANDERS

BOYS

Coach: Marco Gagliardi

23-24 Record: 15-10

Each season, teams have goals that they set for themselves to give them something to work towards. MacArthur head boys basketball coach Marco Gagliardi’s team has a goal that they will work hard to achieve this season. “We are looking to return to the state tournament after three  years of missing out,” the coach said. “We return nine of our top 10 and look forward to taking the next step in 2025.” Key-Ion Brown (6-2, Sr.) will be one of those guys leading the charge this season. He is an outstanding athlete that works hard and is always trying to improve his game.

Key-lon Brown – MacArthur High School

Joining him is De-Quan Alston (5-9, So.), a sophomore that transferred from Lawton High School. De’Quan has range and offensive IQ that is not seen in many sophomores. His ability to play against pressure under control and at his own pace is beyond his years. Look for De’Quan to sneak in the rotation this year for the Highlanders as the season wears on. JC Coleman (6-0, Sr.) is a 4 year starter for the Highlanders. He specializes in defense energy, leadership and being a great role player. JC looks to take a step his senior year into a more score heavy role while keeping the defensive energy he is accustomed to. Other Highlanders looking to make a difference this year are Tykhael Taylor (6-1, Jr.), AJ Vaughn (6-1, Sr.), Alton Thomas (5-9, Sr.), Adam Auston (6-2, Jr.), Josh Rushing (6-3, Jr.), Xavier Alcedo (6-0, Sr.), Amari Turner (5-10, Jr.), Latrell Bailey (6-3, Sr.), Jashaun Cole (5-10, Sr.), Kenyon Gabriel (6-2, Jr.), and Michael Williams (6-0, So.).
