The Alex Longhorns enter the 2024-25 season with optimism and the expectation of a more successful campaign. Head coach Isaac Byrne is enthusiastic about the team’s growth potential, noting that the Longhorns return the entire roster except for one player. With valuable experience gained last season, the team is poised to take a significant step forward despite its overall youth.
“This should be a much better season for us,” Byrne said. “Even though we’re young, we have several key players with experience that will help us improve.”
Senior Ryder Doty (5-7, Sr.) returns as a leader on the court and will be instrumental in running the team’s offense. Fellow senior Brody Whitneyey (5-10, Sr.) provides versatility and leadership, contributing both on the boards and in the paint.
Karter Seward (5-10, Jr.) enters his junior season as a reliable scorer and defender. Sophomores Hays Heldermon (5-10, So.) and Kyler Stewart (6-1, So.) are expected to have expanded roles this season. Heldermon brings energy on both ends of the floor, while Stewart offers size and athleticism in the forward position.
The Longhorns also feature a talented group of underclassmen ready to make an impact. Harper Doty (5-8, So.), Rhiley Landeros (5-7, So.), and Luke McCauley (5-10, So.) all gained experience last year and will add depth to the roster. Freshmen Zane Burton (6-0, Fr.), Kutter Alcorn (6-1, Fr.), James Ford (6-2, Fr.), Maddox Shultz (6-1, Fr.), and Rylon Blankenship (6-3, Fr.) bring size and talent, giving the Longhorns a solid foundation for the future. With a deeper roster and a year of experience under their belt, the Longhorns are set to compete at a higher level this season. Coach Byrne is confident in the team’s ability to grow and develop throughout the year.
