Hollis’ Judah Motley: FFA Spotlight – Presented by Gator’s Western Wear

Judah Motley

Hollis High School

When Judah Motley of Hollis High School finds something he enjoys, he sticks with it. From FFA to cross country and other activities, Motley is enjoying a full slate of classroom work and athletics.

Now a senior, Motley got involved in FFA when it became available in middle school.

“I first got involved in FFA my 8th grade year, but I’d been wanting to be in FFA since I was in fifth grade and saw my oldest brother saying the creed at the annual Hollis FFA banquet,” Motley said. “My oldest brother, sister, parents, and ag teacher all really encouraged me to be involved and to join.”

As a member of the Hollis chapter, Motley said he has enjoyed many of the activities within the program despite not showing livestock.

“I enjoy the community most in FFA, you are able to make such strong bonds through this program and can also grow yourself through confidence, responsibility, self-reliance, teamwork, and facing your fears. I am involved with public speaking, horse and livestock judging, and FFA officer activities, as well as anywhere that I can help in the chapter,” said Motley.

Outside of FFA, Motley is involved in National Honor Society, cross country, track, basketball, powerlifting, and serves as president of HOSA chapter at VoTech. Motley started running cross country when he was in the sixth grade.

“The thing I love most about being a cross country athlete would be that I love the strong bond of brotherhood you build with your teammates. Going out to run early, while it’s still dark and cold, or in the heat of the day is hard, but when you have a group of guys with you that push each other and want each other to be better,” said Motley.

Motley plans to pursue a degree in the medical field after high school.

“I know I want to get a medical degree so that I can go around the world helping those in need and proclaiming the gospel to all nations, just as Jesus commanded us.”
