Family often plays such an important role in a student athlete’s life. Having the support and love of our families can really make a difference in our success. They can help us by encouraging us, being there for our wins and losses, and helping us to not only realize what our goals are for ourselves; but also help us to see that we can achieve them. For Carmille Fisher, this is no different. His biggest impacts have been his parents. “They are always there for me and keep me motivated,” he says.
Carmille is a senior at Altus High School. He participates in basketball, and the high and long jumps in track. Carmille’s favorite subject is art because it comes easy for him. Carmille’s favorite teacher is Mrs. Taylor, his English teacher. “She always helps me out and she makes it to where I always like to come to her class,” he says.
In his free time, like many teens, Carmille likes to play basketball and hang out with his friends. His biggest role model is his mom. “She shows me that if you work hard, you can achieve anything,” he says. Carmille’s favorite part about sports is going out for team dinners because he loves being with his teammates. For Carmille, being a great athlete takes hard work and a great attitude. Sports have taught him to always work hard, even when he doesn’t feel like continuing on.
Carmille has been involved in sports since he was only three years old. He was inspired to get involved in sports by Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant previously played for our very own OKC Thunder. Carmille isn’t sure about his plans for the future except to play basketball at the collegiate level. Carmille is still deciding on what he would like to study and where he would like to attend college.
His favorite part about basketball is getting to dunk the basketball into the net. It’s hard to top the feeling of sending that ball barreling through the hoop. When times get tough, he visits his friends gravesite to talk and pray. The advice that Carmille wants to give to his fellow athletes is “keep working and you will achieve your goal. Go hard at everything like it’s your last.”
