MANGUM TIGERS

GIRLS

Coach: Kelli King

23-24 Record: 10-14

After making an exit from the playoffs in regionals last year, the Mangum Lady Tigers are looking to make a deeper postseason run this year. Head coach Kelli King says that the team has worked hard and should have a solid season. “We will be very tough on defense with a lot of length and athleticism,” King said. “We are very excited about the season. We want all the hard work we did in the off season and summer shows on the court. They are returning three starters and additional help from move-ins and freshman groups. We run as much as we can and try to get ten kids in the game. We are building foundations of players that can’t be shaken.  Brynne Woodress (Sr.) averaged a double-double last season and will be a

key player for the team this season. She has a high basketball IQ and is not afraid of a challenge. A new addition to the team is transfer Hallie Smith (6-0, Jr.), who played on Merritt’s state championship team last season. She brings leadership and maturity to allow the younger kids to see what it takes to become a dominant player. Holly Lemon-Webb (Sr.) is a returner from last season, but will be moving from point guard to shooting guard, where she is expected to continue to make an impact on the floor. Freshman Abree Hooper (5-8, Fr.) was the leading scorer on the junior high team last season and looks to bring her athleticism and mid-range shooting to the varsity squad. Hanna Stehr (5-5, So.) started for the Lady Tigers as a freshman last year. She has worked hard in the offseason and is expected to make a bigger contribution this year. Marlee Hernandez (So.) is one of those players that will do anything for anyone. She does a great job of encouraging her teammates and makes a difference on the team.
