Clinton’s Lillian Lime – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Lily + Rose

LILLIAN LIME

CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL

Senior Lillian Lime keeps a busy schedule though an ankle injury has slowed her down a little in the past few months.

“It was a pretty nasty fracture that happened last February and I’m just now getting back to full health,” said Lime who in addition to basketball is in cheer and runs cross country although the injury kept her from participating this season. “I started in cheer in seventh grade and moved to Clinton and my cousins were cheering so I got into it as well and we’re all cheering together this senior year. I got interested in basketball around second grade watching my older brother Kadin play. I like playing basketball the most because I just feel at peace when I’m on the court. I like the adrenaline rush and the teamwork and the connections you make with your teammates.”

Away from athletics, Lilliam was recently named an Arapaho Tribal Princess which means a lot to her.

“My tribal culture is important to me and has really kept me focused during this time I’ve been rehabilitating. I go to different pow-wows and expos and meet other princesses and represent my family and my tribe.”

As a senior leader, Lillian tries to pattern her leadership style after someone that meant a lot to her when she first got to high school.

“When I was a freshman, Carmella Jefferson was a senior and she was always there to encourage me when I made a mistake, and she guided me a lot. Now as a senior I try to do that with our freshmen and motivate them. I try to help all my teammates get out of their heads and provide some leadership which we really haven’t had the last couple of years.”

Although Clinton has struggled as a team in recent years, Lillian says that has helped her personally.

“I remember last year against Woodward when I had my first 20-point game and then right after that against Elk City. I proved to myself that I could be a high achiever and help my team and even though the team struggled, it helped push me to my limits.”
