Head Coach: Tonya Buckner
OUTLOOK
The Weatherford Eagles cheer squad is entering the season with high hopes and a competitive spirit under the leadership of head coach Tonya Buckner. “Our squad is very competitive,” said Buckner. “We’ve been working hard on our competition routines along with many other things this year. We’re focused on building positive relationships within our community and encouraging school spirit and unity.”
The team has been putting in the extra effort to fine-tune its Game Day routines, hoping the hard work will pay off at Game Day Regionals on Nov. 9. If they make it through, the squad will advance to Game Day State on Nov. 15, where they aim to leave their mark among the top teams in the state. This year’s roster is stacked with talented athletes across all grade levels, each bringing something unique to the team. The senior class is filled with leaders who are determined to push the squad to new heights.
The team’s leaders this season are Atly Buckner and Savannah Williams, two athletes who embody leadership and goal-oriented determination. “They both push the squad to do their best and work well together, making them invaluable members of our team.”
Emma Glassey stands out as an underclassman to watch. “She’s very skilled and success driven. Emma always does her best and pushes through when things get tough. She has a great work ethic and is someone we expect big things from,” said Buckner.
Meanwhile, Ava Mosier is recognized as the person who does all the little things right. “Ava goes above and beyond behind the scenes to ensure everything gets done. She always has a smile on her face and works hard, even without recognition,” Buckner said.
Finally, Anahi Nunez displays great character both on and off the field. “Anahi avoids the drama and is always kind to everyone. She’s the kind of person every team needs,” Buckner mentioned.
As the squad looks ahead to its competitions, coach Buckner and the Eagles are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. With a talented group of athletes and a focus on teamwork, the Weatherford cheer team is ready to make some noise this season.
