VYPE: How long have you played volleyball, and what is your position?
Hume: This is my fifth year. I played middle for three years and this is my second year playing outside and right side.
VYPE: What first got you interested in the sport?
Hume: I grew up watching my sister play, I thought it looked like fun.
VYPE: In your opinion, what is the best part about playing sports in high school?
Hume: The atmosphere is amazing, watching the stands full of my classmates cheering and having fun makes me want to compete more.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory competing?
Hume: Beating our rivals Clinton. We lost to them twice this season in tournaments but we beat them during a district game. We worked together and the game went super well, everyone was excited and the crowd was great.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite opponent to compete against? If so, why?
Hume: I don’t think I have a favorite but I really like playing against really good teams, I like to see how I stack up against them. It’s cool to be in a super competitive environment and it feels amazing when you finally win.
VYPE: What motivates you to be your best?
Hume: Watching my team lay it all out on the court makes me want to be my best. Watching people like Braylie Epp slide halfway across the court for a ball most people would give up on is a huge motivator to play my hardest.
VYPE: Which teammate is the class clown? Who is the leader?
Hume: Our class clown would probably have to be Camdyn Falasco, she’s always the first to laugh and by far the most contagious. I would say that everyone on our team steps into the leadership position at different times; everyone knows their role and expects the best out of the team.
VYPE: Is there anyone you look up to as a role model, and why?
Hume: I’d say my sister, watching her play growing up was always something i looked forward to.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
Hume: I will be playing soccer at SWOSU after I graduate, I plan to major in physical therapy.
