As Zane Allen is about to begin his final year of high school, he knows he has had a great time competing for Sayre High School. And he is looking forward to this upcoming season for a couple of special reasons.
“I’m looking forward to this year of playing,” he stated. “I get to have my sister cheering for me on the sidelines and I get to be a part of the beginning of the love of sports for my little brother as I am finishing up my career. I’m thankful for God, my family, and friends.”
Allen is a member of the Sayre football, basketball, and track teams. Throughout his career, he has had a lot of support from different people, but he says that there are a few that have had a bigger impact.
“My parents are always there to support me and drive many miles to all my games, camps and anything I’ve needed. They are always there,” Zane stated. “My coaches are always there to push me to be better and know how to help guide me during my times of doubt.”
There have been many hours of work in order to become the player that he is today.
“It takes hard work, determination, and perseverance,” he said. “Dedication on and off the field. My biggest motivation is the love for the sport and the friendships along the way. The drive to do better and work hard in all activities I do.”
While he works to excel in his sports, Allen also knows what it takes to be a successful student also. He has had some great teachers along the way but has one that stands out the most.
“Mrs. Kreibel would have to be my favorite teacher,” he said. “She helped expand my knowledge of English and made my writing better and learning fun.”
Zane and his teammates are always ready to face whoever is on the schedule. But he knows that there is one team that makes the victories a little sweeter.
“My favorite team to get a win against is Merritt,” he said. “It is a county rivalry so it’s always nice to come out with a win in any sport we play against them.”
